Gruff, tough New York is again showing a heart of gold, as seven sweet souls have thrown down $3,500-plus to more than replenish money stolen from a Girl Scout troop.

The Woodbridge, NJ, troop had been raising cash for a visit to the Savannah, Ga., home of a Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low. But a thief on Friday grabbed more than $1,100 from the group selling cookies at the Woodbridge Center Mall.

Cue the good guys: “I don’t want to see any child who works hard not get to fulfill her dreams,” said Vince La Padula, who gave $2,200 after he read about the theft in The Post.

“For these kids, their whole year depends on how much money they raise,” he explained. “I was an Eagle Scout myself. A lot of people grew up as Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, so I think they can relate.”

As for the fiend so low he stole from girls aged 5 to 12: Cops haven’t found him yet, but he’s on security footage — eyeing the envelope with the money the entire time.

“We were shocked and devastated,” troop leader Jessica Medina, 38, told The Post on Monday. “The girls had worked so hard. Everybody was crying.”

Kudos to the Samaritans who stepped up — and cross your fingers that the crook yet meets justice.
