While Nancy Pelosi may look in the mirror and say: “The fact is, is that elections shouldn’t matter as much as they do,” the fact is that ballots are more effective than buckets of water for cleansing Congress (“Nancy Calls for Kumbaya,” Editorial, April 16).

The Democrats were once a proud and relevant political organization, but in recent years they have become progressive panderers.
Financed by fat cats of many stripes, they dance like monkeys to the tune of union and trial-bar organ grinders. Pelosi, always appearing startled but never truly knowing why, is the congressional face of this sick donkey. Events have passed her by, and her time in the spotlight has not been kind.
One can paraphrase Gen. Douglas MacArthur: Old Speakers never die, they just fade away.

Is Pelosi really that out of touch with reality?
Does she really think that Republicans will “embrace her values”? If Republicans did, the Democrats would still be in control of the House.
Pelosi still doesn’t get it — Americans are angry, have finally woken up and are starting to take back their country. They have watched, pretty much in silence, as the Democrats spent us into oblivion.
But that is no longer the case.
Many Democrats were sent packing last year. It was a pity Pelosi wasn’t one of them. Her time has come . . . and gone.
Pelosi made history; now it’s time for her to become history.
