It was a Catholic service, but it should speak to people of all faiths in this time of worldwide crisis: Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit performed Good Friday Mass at Notre-Dame de Paris — the wonder of the world devastated by fire one year ago.
Christ is risen, for Western-rite Christians, and the beginning of the rebirth of the transcendental beautiful medieval cathedral should be a sign of hope and renewal for all mankind.
All may seem bleak, but life and light will return.
Parishioners and the general public are still barred from Notre-Dame thanks to the damage from the April 15, 2019 inferno. But Aupetit and seven others returned for a Mass broadcast to the world to offer a message of hope,
As Notre-Dame recovers from its ravages, so may we all rebound from the ravages of COVID-19.
Happy Easter.
