Earth to the Legislature’s Democrats: Now is not the time to be packing the state budget with job-killing public policies — such as an utterly-wrong-for-this-crisis ban on … polystyrene.
Assembly Democrats are apparently dead-set on the move to make it that much harder for restaurants to handle take-out orders as well as outlawing a product responsible for thousands of Empire State jobs “when we should be saving every job possible,” as state Senate Minority Leader John Flanagan notes.
Yes, Gov. Andrew Cuomo proposed it — back in January. We guarantee he doesn’t think it’s a priority now. In a time of crisis, state lawmakers should be focused on what’s vital — not esoterica. And on not doing any harm.
Save this stuff for when life is back to normal, New York businesses are up and running and workers are fully employed.
