In “Hogan’s Heroes,” the popular old sitcom about a German prisoner-of-war camp, the stock line of the inept Sgt. Schultz was: “I see nothing. NOTHING!” President Obama must be a fan.

This week the National Security Agency explained the president had no idea his own spies were monitoring the phone conversations of foreign leaders. And it’s not the first time Team Obama has invoked the Sgt. Schultz defense. Consider:

The ObamaCare Web site. When asked when the president first learned the Web site for his signature legislative achievement wasn’t working, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said not until “the first couple of days” after the rollout.

The IRS’s targeting of conservative groups. “I first learned about it from the same news reports that I think most people learned about this,” said the president.

The seizure by his attorney general of two months of an Associated Press reporter’s phone records. “[President Obama] found out about the news reports yesterday on the road,” said spokesman Jay Carney.

The requests for additional security at the Benghazi, Libya, consulate prior to the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed four Americans. “[President Obama and I] weren’t told they wanted more security,” said Joe Biden.

If the president truly doesn’t know what’s going on in his own administration, maybe he can direct us to someone who does.
