THE ISSUE: President Obama’s acknowledgement that the US is at war against al Qaeda.

***

It should give you a warm and fuzzy feeling to learn that after less than a year in the White House, our illustrious president came to the conclusion that al Qaeda represents a threat to our well-being (“We Are at War,” Editorial, Jan. 8).

What an astute finding!

The only shocking revelation the president made was that his head has finally come out of the sand.

The problem is that he is still blinking it out of his eyes.

I have been trying to make some sense out of President Obama’s several TV appearances on the Christmas bomber fiasco.

Trying to get our president to acknowledge that we are at war has been akin to getting a child, kicking and screaming, to the kitchen table for a necessary dose of medicine.

It’s about time Obama admitted he and key people in his administration made mistakes.

He actually took responsibility for what went wrong on the Christmas Day attempted attack, finally called it a war and came right out and admitted the terrorists want to kill us.

It’s about time the finger-pointing stops and everyone gets on the same page to accept the fact that these terrorists will not stop.

We must smash them first.

Obama has now said that the buck stops with him regarding the war on terror.

Thank you, Mr. President. We didn’t realize that. We thought you were elected just for your charming personality.
