I was pleased to read Mayor Bloomberg mention Frederick Law Olmstead who “hailed public parks as the ‘lungs of the city’ — a haven where one could escape the overcrowded, noisy and polluted streets” (Chatter, PostScript, Feb. 27).

All New Britainites can attest to the wisdom of that statement as we enjoy Walnut Hill Park in New Britain’s downtown area, also a creation of Olmstead.
