The demise of America’s space program under President Obama is his first giant step towards the dumbing down of this great nation (“Spaced Out Prez Flees DC Masses,” Charles Hurt, April 16).

With the stroke of a pen, Obama has made certain that the America of tomorrow will be a second-rate power, dependent upon Russia and China in all matters pertaining to space.

His eloquent words about believing in the space program are typical Obama: beautiful but empty.
