In The Post’s story on Port Authority Police overtime, the PA ignored certain facts (“OT Hogs Cost PA $18M/Yr.,” April 3).

Its overtime-curtailment strategy has two components: reduction of patrol posts and inadequate supervisor staffing — a strategy that has led to less police protection while supervisors rack up outrageous overtime overseeing fewer cops.

Only in the Port Authority’s world is this considered success.

The Port Authority PBA has voiced its concern about this upside-down strategy to the agency’s executive director, who continually dismisses the PBA’s input. As a result, there have been times when facilities such as the Lincoln Tunnel and Bayonne Bridge have had no police coverage.

A federal court found the Port Authority 65 percent liable in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing because it disregarded its own security assessment, citing the vulnerability of the World Trade Center garage to a terror attack.

The Port Authority is again ignoring its own security studies and taking the express train to disaster.
