Steve Malanga must not have had a loved one in a hospital or nursing home in recent years to truly understand why more cuts would be devastating (“NY’s Real Godzilla,” PostOpinion, March 31).

Hospitals treat confused, elderly people by putting them in a vests tied to chairs so they can’t wander or harm themselves because there is not enough staff to monitor them.

Families feel the need to stay through the night to assist. And don’t forget the medical errors that continue to put our loved ones at risk.
