The NextGen navigation system will help solve some of the congestion and gridlock problems, but without at least 10 new air-carrier airports, congestion and gridlock will get worse (“JFK Traffic Parley Hits Turbulence,” Oct. 24).

A new National Aviation Commission that would report to the president with appropriate congressional oversight is the answer.

The FAA would be removed from the USDOT, which is ineffective regarding aviation, and report to the new commission. It is in our national interest to do so.
