The Issue: Whether the US Postal Service should be privatized in the face of a record $16 billion loss.

***

The US Postal Service should deliver mail Monday, Wednesday and Friday and have window service six days a week (“Postal Dis-Service,” Editorial, Nov. 25).

Congress should keep all post offices open.

The Post’s editorial advocating the privatization of the USPS is consistent with your general theme of “government is the problem, not the solution.”

Keep in mind that if the postal service were privatized, it would be the less densely populated red states that would suffer the most.

You can forget about sending holiday cards to your friends in Alaska or rural Kansas for just a 45-cent stamp.

No private company would agree to serve such unprofitable routes without charging a huge premium.
