We are at war with two countries halfway around the world, but the country on our border is the most irrational and corrupt (“Pirate Slay a Mex Standoff,” Oct. 17).

It has drug cartels that overpower their police and army. Now our citizens are getting killed and kidnapped.

Are we as a country going to wake up, or are we going to let them do a slow takeover, like they have done in Texas?

Don’t we realize that these are not poor people in search of a better life?

This is not the second wave of immigration with which we will continue to build this nation — this is the one that will destroy our country. They will turn their backs on us like they did their own country.
