Just as we feared, the Assembly is stalling to protect Gov. Andrew Cuomo — aiming to take months to complete its impeachment inquiry. What a flagrant farce.

“Given the breadth and seriousness of the issues under investigation, we expect that the timing will be in terms of months, rather than weeks,” Assembly Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Lavine (D-LI) said Tuesday.

That’s because Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx) threw everything but the kitchen sink into the mix to drag it out.

There’s more than enough evidence to impeach Cuomo just for his corrupt coverup of the true toll of his deadly order forcing nursing homes to accept COVID-contagious patients. Attorney General Letitia James, who’s already questioning the accusers, can handle the sexual harassment charges that Heastie insists Lavine look at, along with issues surrounding the Mario Cuomo Bridge.

As Lavine put it, Heastie “has directed us to examine all credible allegations, including but not limited to — and here the key is including but not limited to.”

And a damning key it is.
