Mayor Bloomberg points out that the city sends $12 billion more to Albany than it gets back (“Mayor Orders 3rd Cash Slash, March 5”).

Why complain? After all, the mostly Democratic city is richer than its upstate cousins, and don’t Democrats believe that the rich should help the poor?

Republicans, on the other hand, believe in standing on your own two feet. So, since most of upstate New York is Republican, why does it accept our money?
