Kudos to Peter Romeo and Holly Klokis for their roles in greyhound adoption and for educating the public as to the realities the greyhounds face as racers (“Going Grey,” July 17).

Increased public awareness of the inherent cruelties of greyhound racing is contributing to its steady decline.

It is inhumane for greyhounds to endure abysmal confinement in small, stacked cages day in and out.

The cruelty doesn’t end when they are let out to race, as they then risk suffering and dying from broken limbs, broken necks, paralysis and cardiac arrest.

That is no way to treat a dog.
