Safe, cracking
Peggy Noonan exposing the Justice Department’s failure to have a plan in the event of a WMD assault is bad enough, but Congress ignoring its oversight responsibilities in such a crucial life-or-death matter is far worse (“Are We Safe?” PostScript, June 13).
Our finger-pointing lawmakers create multiple committees overnight in response to something that has already gone terribly wrong, but they appear disinterested in pressuring an “unprepared” government agency charged, in the event of a catastrophic attack, with the safety of millions of Americans.
Have we gotten to the bottom of that Roger Clemens, Jose Canseco steroid trial that occupied so much of our lawmakers’ precious time?
