The Issue: The elementary-school teacher who informed students that there’s no such thing as Santa.
***
The Rockland County teacher who told a bunch of elementary-school students that there is no such thing as Santa Claus must be one of those left-leaning PC types (“‘No Santa’ Clod: I’m So Sorry,” Dec. 4),
Santa, if you’re reading this, you now know where to dump that extra-large bag of coal.

Leatrice Eng should have at least glossed over the fact that parents are the ones who leave presents under the tree.
Even old-school nuns never said there was no Santa Claus.
As children get older, they will eventually learn that Santa Claus is not real, but it’s important that this occurs when the child is best able to understand.

I write in support of truth and justice. How in the world do so many people vilify a teacher for telling the truth?
Eng could have handled the situation more tactfully, but the last time I researched the subject scientifically, Santa exists as myth and legend and a symbol and not in fact.
This teacher may need a sensitivity session or two. She does not deserve to be dragged before the public for doing her job in an imperfect way.
