DELEGATES, New Yorkers and, yes, protesters: At any given street corner in Manhattan, please stop and say “thanks” to the cops for the fantastic job they’re doing this week.

Republicans: You know the police are the backbone of civilization. And New York’s extremely professional guys and gals aren’t just keeping the lid on this week – they’ve been vital to the transformation that makes the Big Apple such a great place to visit.

New Yorkers: You know the disruptions aren’t the NYPD’s fault; it’s just more work for the men and women in blue. The city can’t afford to pay them what they’re worth; let’s at least give them our appreciation.

Protesters: Thank New York’s Finest for making it possible for you to exercise your rights peacefully. The “Seattle 1999” extremists are in town – and Chicago ’68 helped elect Nixon president.
