Scans are needed
Peggy Noonan’s hypothetical dialogue between President Obama and a fictional “special assistant for reality” is entertaining, but it suggests that she needs a “columnist’s assistant for presidential responsibility” (“Out of Touch(ing),” PostScript, Nov. 28).
That the US should develop technology less intrusive than scanners and pat-downs does not alter the reality that terrorists have tried to kill us by hiding items on their persons. This does not mean the president is out of touch with reality. It means he is in touch with a more urgent responsibility.
