“Devil Finds Work,” (Oct. 13) focuses on Max Lindeman’s crime in 1981, for which he was convicted and imprisoned.

Upon returning to society, he created a new life with mature values. At the Fortune Society, where he was affiliated for 11 years, he behaved with integrity and exhibited a solid determination to help other people.

In addition to working with youths at risk, he pursued his college career, achieved an MA and is now pursuing his doctorate.

If we don’t make room for people to restructure their lives, we will have a prison population that continues to be recidivists.

People cannot undo their past, but they can make society better and stronger by taking their negative pasts and working with others who have been in trouble.

Obviously, The Post thinks that forgiveness is a Sunday church sentiment that should not intrude on its daily pursuit of shock and sensationalism.
