I have never seen a more insidious contraption (“Dog-o-matic a Real Spot Cleaner,” May 26).

Inventor Romain Jarry says, “Dogs don’t seem to get bored, they just sit there,” but, as you can see in the photo, the little dog inside the Dog-o-matic is frantically scratching at the glass, trying to get out.

I saw one of these machines and thought it was a bad joke. My only hope is that no one uses this machine and that Jarry finds another profession.

It’s mind-boggling how much suffering we as a species inflict on nonhuman animals out of laziness, boredom and greed.

Shame on Jarry and anyone else who subjects their companion animal to this torture chamber.

Nothing can replace your own hands gently massaging your dog to create a lifelong bond with your animal.
