SILVER IS GOLDEN
Like The Post, I welcome Gov. Spitzer’s strongly worded commitment to speed the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site (“From Rhetoric To Reality,” Editorial, Jan. 4).
However, your suggestion that I might not share Spitzer’s praise for Speaker Sheldon Silver’s role in the rebuilding is the real head-scratcher to me.
Since 9/11, Silver has fought harder and more consistently than anyone to rebuild the World Trade Center and to call attention to egregious and unwarranted delays.
In fact, he deserves most of the credit for the enactment of legislation in 2005 that helped to kick-start the return of businesses to lower Manhattan.
Silver has done exactly what your editorial page has consistently and rightly demanded – accelerate the rebuilding. He deserves the governor’s praise and my thanks for his unwavering focus and leadership in lower Manhattan.
