I agree with Rich Lowry that US power is indispensable to world peace, but bringing “scholar” Michael Mandelbaum into the mix, with his loony idea that America should become a “Goliath,” sends the argument right off the tracks (“World Needs the US ‘Goliath’,” PostOpinion, April 14).

I urge Lowry and the “scholar” to consult the Old Testament to meet the real Goliath — no fair arbitrator of world peace, but a psychotic bully who ended up losing his head.
