The Issue: Mayor Mamdani’s blasé reaction to a crowd pelting NYPD officers with snowballs.
Mayor Mamdani sees this incident as just “a snowball fight,” but the only way it could be construed as a snowball fight is if the NYPD officers were able to fight back (“Mam: Cop pelt s’no biggie,” Feb. 25)
No, this was an attack on police.
I hope the commissioner stands her ground in defense of the police and finds all the hoodlums responsible.
This mayor sets a bad example for our youth.

Seeing the disgraceful actions against the police by these individuals is disturbing to the majority of the American people.
We all did stupid things when we were young — not harmful but stupid.
If we were caught by the police, they would either bring us home to our parents or we would get hit in the legs by their nightsticks.
I think if they bring back the nightsticks these cowards would not be harassing the police.

The outrageous assault on our police officers in Washington Square Park and the asinine response to it by our boy mayor is infuriating.
I was a cop in the ’80s and I assure you, if this happened then, Bellevue’s ER would have been overloaded in the aftermath.
Every one of the people involved in this attack who can be identified needs to be arrested and prosecuted.
Tolerating this type of behavior will only embolden this scum and foment more violent attacks on our officers.

How dare the mayor say people throwing snowballs at police was just a snowball fight.
These officers were there protecting the people, not there to have people throw snowballs at their faces or the back of their heads.
This just shows you how much respect for the police this mayor has.
Honestly, this would not have happened years ago because there would have been hell to pay.
The police aren’t here to have someone ridicule them.
They’re not pawns — they protect all the people in this city.
This is an assault on the police and should be treated like one.
No one should put hands on officers doing their jobs — and if they do, they have to pay the price.

All New Yorkers should be prepared to throw icy snowballs at the mayor every time he appears in public.
After all, it’s just a snowball.

NYPD officers being pelted with snowballs is actually a direct consequence of a grand jury unwilling to indict a person for throwing a sandwich at a federal officer.
Although Mamdani minimizes the situation, snowballs — probably ice balls — present an unknown lethality to NYPD officers.
Two went to the hospital.
Attacks on federal agents have progressed to attacks on NYPD officers because Mamdani’s policies have resulted in the city surrendering to mob rule.

Mayor Mam-dummy is showing his true colors by minimizing the actions of the thugs attacking police officers in Washington Square Park.
His blatant disrespect for the NYPD is beyond comprehension.
If he did get hit by a snowball, the person who dared to throw it at him would be arrested and thrown in jail.
I pray for the innocent people of New York City who are going to suffer at the hands of this mayor and his policies.

NYPD officers should refuse to serve on Mamdani’s detail.
Why should they protect him when he refuses to protect them?
Besides, anyone who advocates abolishing the police doesn’t deserve police protection.

Mamdani refers to the jokers in Washington Square Park assaulting cops with snowballs as “kids.”
Who does he think he’s kidding?
Most of them probably have adult arrest records.
If Hizzonner thinks it’s playful and cute to be hit at close range with snowballs, then I suggest he give it a shot, because plenty of people would volunteer in a New York minute to accommodate him.
