In stating, “This is the single biggest voting issue for relatively few voters,” Linda Chavez’s “GOP Illegal Idiocy” (PostOpinion, Nov. 10) ignores the forest and counts trees.

Can’t she count? There were millions of voters who e-mailed, wrote and called their senators and representatives to stop the illegal-invasion bill in Congress.

I have no statistical evidence, only my own experience, but I think that Chavez is completely wrong when she implies that all Hispanics support illegal immigration.

When people strive for a goal in life and dedicate themselves to achieving it through hard work and playing by the rules, they have a sense of achievement and pride and are an example to friends and family.

When these people see others getting the same deal without working for it, they feel their achievement has been devalued and they have been belittled.

Why assume that serious, law-abiding Hispanics would be in favor of granting amnesty and special benefits to people whose only qualification is that they broke the law and cheated to get here?
