Michael Goodwin stares at us from the pages of your newspaper with a perpetual smirk on his face and says, “Never mind that spitting is not an assault under the law. In a wacko world of labor deals, all assaults are equal” (“Taxpayers! We Can Fight Spitty Haul,” May 26).

Let Goodwin spit in a police officer’s face and see what happens to him. Better yet, let him spit in Jay Walder’s face and see what happens.

If the MTA would prosecute those who spit on bus drivers, union members might not be so quick to abuse the system.

My pet peeve is when buses change drivers in the middle of a route. The passengers are not informed, and the procedure sometimes takes too long.
