THE ISSUE: New York’s high cost of living and its effect on the business climate.

As an economic refugee, I do miss living on Long Island, but see no way of moving back, with the taxes and the high cost of living (“N.Y. State of Decline,” Editorial, Dec. 31).

The fact that I have a business that I can take anywhere is a concept that states like New York never did understand or accept. Those of us who have options are taking them.

I love New York, but it doesn’t love me, not enough to make me stay, anyway. Wayne Olson

You neglect to mention another reason why New Yorkers are leaving – the climate.

New York cannot compete with the climate of Florida, Nevada and Arizona.
