Looks like Amar’e Stoudemire got it right last summer when he declared “the Knicks are back,” after inking a $100 million free-agent pay package that brought him to Madison Square Garden.
Well, partly right, anyway: For the first time in seven years, the Knickerbockers won’t be going home after the regular season ends.
OK, it’s not the ’69-’70 season.
But the team is back in the post-season, thanks largely to the play of Stoudemire and recent acquisitions Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony.
Sure, the Knicks are still only a .500 club. We’re talking long-shot city here.
But first things first.
