The Post’s choices
Tuesday is Primary Day. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Post has made the following endorsements:
For mayor, Democratic primary:
CHRIS QUINN. The City Council speaker has — more than her Democratic rivals — the kind of common sense a mayor needs.
For mayor, Republican primary:
JOE LHOTA. The former head of the MTA, deputy mayor and budget director offers the best record of achievement and a solid understanding of what it will take to keep New York City thriving.
For city comptroller, Democratic primary:
SCOTT STRINGER. The thought of the Manhattan beep’s hooker-loving foe, Eliot “Steamroller” Spitzer, winning this key office is truly frightening. Though a traditional liberal, Stringer appears set to run the office responsibly.
For Queens borough president, Democratic primary:
PETER VALLONE JR. This largely ceremonial position still offers its holder a significant megaphone. Given Councilman Vallone’s commitment to safety and pro-active policing, his is the voice that deserves it.
In Democratic races for City Council:
34th District (Williamsburg, Ridgewood): ANTONIO REYNOSO.
5th District (Upper East Side): BEN KALLOS.
9th District (Harlem, Upper Manhattan): VINCE MORGAN.
41st District (Bed-Stuy, Flatbush, Crown Heights): KATHLEEN DANIEL.
