Ain’t it good to be a cop in New York City? There are millions of vulnerable, defenseless women needing New York’s Finest’s special brand of cuddling and Bon Jovi therapy (“Anatomy of a Travesty,” Maureen Callahan, PostScript, May 29).
Men, what if that were your wife or sister who needed help getting home after having one too many?

The cops were found not guilty by a jury of their peers, the same citizens who would be deciding our fate in a court case.
People are quick to show anger when cops are found not guilty by a judge or jury. But it is the prosecutor’s job to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime was committed.
Yes, they acted inappropriately. But this does not prove there was a rape or sexual act committed.

I think the jurors made a bad decision in acquitting Officers Kenneth Moreno and Franklin Mata on rape charges.
It just makes you wonder how much attention is being paid during these trials.
I have to compliment NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly for firing them. It was the right decision.

I thought that moronic juries were restricted to the OJ Simpson case, but we clearly saw last week that the Moreno/Mata jury was equally moronic.
Jurors need a logic lesson. Repeatedly returning to a “crime scene” (the victim’s apartment), splitting up when entering a building and falsifying reports is not NYPD protocol.
The scariest part of this fiasco is that these jurors have voting power.

If there is one positive thing to come out of the rape trial of the two NYPD officers, it is that a lone, drunk female is easy prey.
Henceforth, a young lady should know better than to get drunk if she is out by herself.

What is clear is that all involved — the prosecutor, defense attorneys, judge and, yes, even the jury — worked hard and did their jobs.
And it’s just possible that they got it right.

Shame on all those jurors who found Mata and Moreno not guilty. How they can sleep at night is beyond me.
As for the dirty cops, I hope they are never allowed to get city jobs again.
Now I understand why many victims of rape don’t come forward. Why bother going through all the heartache and trials if your rapist is going to end up walking away a free man?

Good job, jury. There was never proof “beyond a reasonable doubt” that a rape occurred
And good job, Commissioner Kelly. The officers should have gotten the young lady to a medical facility if she was incapable of caring for herself.
Their actions were inexcusable, and they deserved to be fired.

Is it possible that any or all the members of this jury were related to members of the OJ Simpson jury?
