Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions

This analysis:

“China Wins as Trump Cedes Leadership of the Global Economy” — The New York Times’ Peter S. Goodman, Thursday

We say: Trump’s taken the “global economy” by the horns, striking trade deals all over and winning trillions in investment.

The US economy grew at an impressive 4.4% pace in last year’s third quarter; Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick projects more than 5% this quarter.

By contrast, China’s shaky economy is seeing investment plunge, property values fall and debt mount. If Trump is “ceding leadership,” we’ll take it any day!

This comment:

“It is really damning when we think about the degree to which mass-media outlets reported on Joe Biden [declining] and . . . everyone is now pretending [Trump declining] is normal.”  — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Wednesday

We say: Yes, it’s “damning” — but not the way AOC thinks. In fact, most media actively denied Biden’s decline until it was too obvious to ignore.

Now, much of the media is, in fact, echoing the suggestion that Trump, like Biden, is too impaired to remain president — even as his daily appearances prove the opposite.

This claim:

“The first murder in the city of Minneapolis was perpetrated by federal agents.” — Minneapolis City Councilmember Jamison Whiting, Tuesday

We say: Whiting was referencing the death of Renee Good, who was shot by a federal agent in self-defense as she drove her car into him after blocking traffic to obstruct ICE.

So far, neither the agent nor anyone else has been charged with anything, let alone murder.

This assessment:

“In just one year, Donald Trump has tanked the economy, sent prices soaring, decimated the job market, and left families everywhere struggling.” — DNC Chairman Ken Martin, Tuesday

We say: Dem spin-artist Martin must be getting his misinformation from the Times (see above).

The truth? GDP is up nicely, and unemployment (4.4%) is on par with Joe Biden’s last eight months in office.

True, prices are high, but that’s thanks to Biden-era hikes: Inflation last month was just 2.7%, down from a peak of 9.1% under Joe.
