Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has it right: Every member nation of the World Health Organization should have to participate in an independent review into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.

Understanding what happened, and who bungled what, is vital to doing better in the future. And every country claiming WHO membership has an obligation to help out.

The investigation will focus on China, of course: How exactly did the bug pop up in Wuhan? When and where did it jump to humans? Did that now-notorious lab play a role, or was it just the “wet market”?

Plus, of course, pinning down the real numbers of cases and deaths and the true spread of the virus.

Morrison hopes all WHO members would want “the world to be safer when it comes to viruses.” They should, but Beijing’s Communist regime will surely find excuses not to do its duty. Why stop lying now?
