Folks, back off!
I was only kidding in my last column when I said I tipped 5 percent. As I’ve said in previous columns, I’m a vigorous defender of tipping even when the server is making more than I am.
To prove my point, I recently tipped 50 percent — although it was on a $2 Diet Coke.
In fact, I think tipping is so great that it should be expanded to columnists who provide good service.
