The Issue: Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani keeping Jessica Tisch on as NYPD commissioner.
I think Mayor-elect Zohran Mandami knows well enough that if he does not maintain public safety, the reputation of his more beloved “gimmie money” agenda will suffer (“Zo gets wish on commish,” Nov. 20).

It’s pretty obvious Tisch is staying on as Mamdani’s police commissioner because she has bigger political aspirations. It seems to me that she wants to be mayor of New York City someday.
It’s obvious that she became the sanitation commissioner and then rolled over to the police commissioner position because of her family’s background and political connections.

This is the best news New York City has received in weeks!
Jessica Tisch has consistently proved herself to be the type of leadership material sorely needed for the NYPD, and being a woman has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Her no-nonsense attitude, high intelligence and concern for the department make her a standout leader; and the men will follow her.

It looks like Mandami is going to retain Jessica Tisch, who has proven herself as a competent leader.
I would love to see her running as lieutenant governor with Elise Stefanik’s campaign for governor. They would be the common-sense leadership needed to reverse bail reform.

Tisch is giving Mamdani as much rope as he wants before he hangs himself. She sees right through that phony smile and the promises he knows he’ll never keep.
I still feel she should have run for mayor herself. Had she done so, NYC would be looking at a better future than it is now.

Commissioner Jessica Tisch deserves great respect for her exemplary work over the years. But agreeing to work for antisemitic socialist Mayor-elect Mamdani is a serious mistake.
When you are asked to subvert everything you have worked for, the honorable path is not submission, it is resignation.

The Issue: President Trump scolding an ABC reporter during his meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince.
One feasible method to stop a spoiled man-child like President Trump from his blatant abuse of an otherwise respected journalist is for the press corps as a whole to boycott him until he sincerely apologizes and promises to treat them with due respect (“Trump scolds ABC reporter,” Nov. 19)
Yes, his propagandists, such as Fox News, can continue to bend their knees to Trump. But genuine journalists should shun him entirely for his disgraceful, infantile behavior.
Not much of any value will be missed. He is incapable of telling the truth.

Trump’s demeaning, vicious and disturbing verbal assault on ABC Chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce — who questioned him in a hard-hitting, yet respectful manner — was met with a shameful, abject silence from other members of the press corps in attendance.
Rather than showing collective journalistic cowardice as their colleague was being mercilessly browbeaten, all the reporters should have walked out of the room in a principled defiance against yet another provocative example of Trump making an utter mockery of the freedom of the press.
