I wish to thank Rich Lowry for his beautifully written and inspiring article (“What Trig Can Teach America,” PostOpinion, Sept. 9). VP candidate and new mother Sarah Palin, by her love and acceptance, helps teach us how to deal with real diversity. Lowry elevates her decision-making process into poetry and touches all of us.

As the father of a 9-year-old-boy with Down syndrome, I pray Trig Palin can convince parents that having a child with DS is a blessing, not a curse. There are plenty of challenges and issues that must be faced that don’t exist with “typical” children, but I can’t imagine my life being as rewarding as it is with my son in it just as he is.
