It’s interesting how the United Nations’ response to Mayor Bloomberg‘s request that it clean up its fire violations is pretty much how it handles world affairs: with tardiness, empty promises and a criminal disregard for human life (“Mike’s Sis Lights Fire Under UN,” Nov. 14).

I’m surprised that Bloomberg stopped at fire violations. Isn’t having a 39-story cesspool right in middle of New York City against sanitation laws?
