UP IN SMOKE
Sen. Martin Golden blames the lack of tax collections on cigarettes at Indians’ stores as a source for funding terrorism (“Indian Butts: Terror’s Take,” Oct. 16).
There would be no buyers for bootleg smokes if the state and city imposed a fair tax, as on other goods.
But they are not going to give up a cash cow for the sake of security, are they? This doesn’t seem to be a problem for other states that have a fair tax.
