Ralph Peters’ article, “Iran 1, USA 0,” (Post- Opinion, Jan. 8) is absolutely accurate.
How do we get this message to those who make decisions?

I couldn’t agree more with Peters. We do not need another USS Cole attack. It is time to take action before we lose any more Americans overseas.
It is also a time to show the Iranians that they can’t play around with us anymore. And if they do, we will show our courage and determination, no matter how far away we are from our homeland.

If The Post is anxious for Iran to step into the Iraqi mess with both feet and make it even more combustible, go ahead, “sink them” (“Next Time, Sink ‘Em,” Editorial, Jan. 8).
Iranian provocation is nothing more than a nasty buzzing fly. The US Navy behaved cautiously and correctly. Nothing is gained, and a lot may be lost, by ensuring more open enemies in the Mideast.

If the Navy had blown up those ships and started a conflict, Peters would have called them warmongers.

If Peters ever made the passage through the Strait of Hormuz, he would know that the CO’s decision not to fire was not only the politically correct thing but also the right military decision.
If the Iranians had actually attacked the warships, Peters could rest assured that the Iranian vessels would have been nothing more than flotsam.

The correct score should be: Iran 2, USA 0, Britain 0.
Iran took British sailors hostage, paraded them in front of the camera, extracted apologies when none were due and sent the sailors home – all with not even a hint of retaliatory action by Britain.
Britain was tested and failed miserably. Now, we have been tested and failed equally miserably.
Iran will continue to up the ante because there has been no effort to halt its provocations.
