Who wore it better?
Donald Trump in 2024:
“For so many years people have been saying that Elvis and I look alike. Now this pic has been going all over the place. What do you think?”
Gavin Newsom in March 2026:
“For so many years people have been saying that Patrick Bateman and I look alike. Now this pic has been going all over the place. What do you think?”
For originality, authenticity, and a better association (cultural icon Elvis > fictional serial killer Bateman), we have to give it to Trump.

That the gov would want to compare himself to the rapist/killer/cannibal in American Psycho is bizarre, even if he did want to “own” a shred of jokey criticism that’s swirled online since 2024.
Instead of dreaming up new ways to spread nonsense on X, Newsom would do well to focus on the long list of crises plaguing California.

In one example this week, his press office twisted crime data to claim that Joe Biden’s policies caused murder numbers to drop – only to get slammed by FBI Director Kash Patel for inverting reality.
In another case, published on Tuesday, he screamed at readers in all caps: “NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING IF SHE WAS IN OFFICE.” With a photo of Kamala Harris.

“MAGA is spiraling because of this post! Nothing triggers these snowflakes more than a Democrat who is funny and has a backbone!”

The real issue here: The Newsom crew is shallow, silly, unoriginal, inauthentic and detached from the issues Californians care about.
While crises fester, Newsom tweets, trolls and asks if we miss Joe Biden yet. (No one does.)
Trump’s tweets and quips work for him because they reflect who he is. Like the guy or not, he’s real, genuine, authentic.
Newsom’s missives flop because they’re phony, derivative, banal, inane.
Besides … if Newsom really wanted to mimic Trump, he wouldn’t just tweet. He’d get down to business and govern.
To borrow from Elvis, has the gov ever caught a rabbit?
