THE ISSUE: The death of pro wrestler Chris Benoit and the murder of his wife and son.

What happened to the family of Chris Benoit is a tragedy almost beyond words (“Wrestle Maniac’s ‘Roid Rage,” June 27).

How does a person strangle his 7-year-old son?

Take one look at wrestling, and what you see is a disaster waiting to happen.

It’s total mayhem – a bunch of steroid freaks flying around the ring, cursing, screaming and hitting each other with tables and chairs

The violence and dialogue are a disgrace. It is drugs, sex and violence on a daily basis.

Look at the deaths of pro wrestlers over the past 10 years, and you wonder why this sport, or whatever you want to call it, hasn’t been banned.

This is entertainment that obviously is not regulated, and what happed to the Benoit family is only the tip of the iceberg.

I believe that the use of drugs, coupled with the lifestyle of professional wrestlers, has become pure madness.

I truly feel quite sad over the death of Benoit’s wife and 7-year-old son, apparently by Benoit’s own hands.

Something has to be done, like strict testing for illegal drugs, which should include steroids.

If drugs are detected, we need strict enforcement and penalties for the abusers. Enough is enough.
