The late Bernard Jacobs, the former president of the Shubert Organization, loved to entertain the theater world at his Norman Jaffe-designed waterfront home on Shelter Island, which is on the market for $3.65 million.

One guest, the late choreographer Michael Bennett, was so inspired by the “beauty of the property” that he choreographed creations for “Dreamgirls,” “Ballroom” and “A Chorus Line” while visiting, says a spokesperson for the current owner, Sally Jacobs — Bernard’s daughter.
