“Litigation boutique” firm Holwell Shuster & Goldberg has subleased just under 60,000 square feet from a much larger law firm, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, for 16 years at 425 Lexington Ave.
HSG is bucking the trend of law firms downsizing — it’s doubling the space it now has at 750 Seventh Ave., which it will leave later this year.
Savills Studley’s Craig L. Lemle, who repped HSG with his shop’s Nick Zarnin, pointed out, “HSG stands as a rare example of growth” in an industry where many firms are consolidating their real estate footprints.”
The shrinkage by Simpson Thacher, which was repped by CBRE, is more consistent with current law-firm patterns — although it will still have about 490,000 square feet at 425 Lexington.
