Not to ruin a lovely spring day with bad news, but … we couldn’t help notice the above chart from the fine folks at Calculated Risk (click for larger version). February was apparently the worst month on record for new home sales, which is impressive, in a bad way.

On the other hand, these HUD numbers don’t include most condo units, so if you’re a New Yorker of a Pollyanna-ish bent, you can always just tell yourself the report doesn’t really apply to you.
