An epic Hampton Bays Dutch colonial home on Newtown Road is on the market for $4.99 million.
The home, known as Shorebluff, has had its share of fame in films like “Margot at the Wedding” and “The Forgotten.”
It was reportedly built for $2,700 in 1897 by Sarah Southgate, the widow of Horatio Southgate, an Episcopalian bishop. The property is also named for its location on the bluffs of the Great Peconic Bay’s south shore. Five generations of Southgates have lived on the property, according to previous reports.
This historic place has original “eco-chic” — it remains unheated and largely unchanged since its creation almost 120 years ago.
The listing broker is Elliman’s Todd Bourgard.
