Tamar Lurie — widow of the late political cartoonist and Israeli war hero Ranan Lurie, who passed away last year at age 90 — is in contract to sell their apartment at 15 Central Park West.

The broker is their daughter, Danielle Lurie, of Compass. The 36th-floor spread was last asking $26.5 million, down from its $28 million ask last fall.

The couple had bought the apartment for $11.44 million in 2008. It was the top contract signed last week, according to Monday’s Olshan Luxury Market Report.

For around 10 years, Ranan Lurie was the most widely syndicated political cartoonist in the world, according to Guinness World Records. His caricatures once appeared in around 1,000 publications with more than 100 million readers in 100 countries, according to reports.

He got his start fighting underground for Israeli independence as a teenager following World War II. He once said that a cartoonist can capture the essence of a person far better than any photograph.
