A French chateau-style Connecticut home named Marion Castle has hit the market for $4.49 million.

The property, at 1 Rogers Road in Stamford, was built in 1912 by Hollywood production pioneer Frank Marion. Among many achievements, Marion was known for shooting the first on-location film outside the US: “A Lad From Old Ireland,” in Ireland.

Architects Hunt & Hunt designed the home, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The 8,140-square-foot residence comes with nine bedrooms, six bathrooms and two powder rooms, as well as views of the Stamford Harbor the the New York City skyline.

The house sits on 1.1 acres in the Shippan Point neighborhood, and features a pool and beach access. An adjacent lot on .56 acres is included in the sale.
