Serial real estate collector Mickey Drexler, chairman and former CEO of retailer J. Crew, has finally sold his home at 120 Beach Lane in Wainscott for a loss.
First asking $26.5 million in 2014, it was last listed for $15 million and sold for just under that price.
Considering the fact that Drexler bought the property for $17 million in 2008 and then put at least $1 million into it, he “definitely lost money,” say several sources familiar with the deal.
The news was first reported by Curbed.
The 3,500-square-foot beach house, between Wainscott Pond and the Atlantic Ocean, sits on 2.3 acres and comes with 315 feet of ocean frontage.
The buyer is a neighbor, the sources say, but other details are not immediately available.
The three-bedroom home comes with two full bathrooms and two half baths, along with an open chef’s kitchen that overlooks the pond.
Special features include an open floorplan, double-height ceilings, a media room with a cozy fireplace and lots of light from oversize windows.
The listing broker was Paul Brennan of Douglas Elliman.
