Beyoncé has greatly influenced the music industry over the course of her celebrated career, but now, the pop songstress will make a different — and unexpected — kind of impact, this time in real estate development.

That’s right. The 68-story Premiere Tower in Melbourne, Australia, which has won planning approval, will feature a curvy form — and, dare we say, one that’s bootylicious? — inspired by the star’s “Ghost” music video, according to Dezeen. Specifically, the 660-unit tower’s shape is based on the curves of dancers’ bodies wrapped in stretchy fabric.

The dancers, who first appear roughly halfway into the 2½-minute video, bend and twist, giving the full-body fabric that covers them a tall, flowy and sometimes bulgy form.

Of course, this is architecture — a certain level of science needs to factor into the design. “The complex form, — a vertical cantilever, — is actually the most effective way to redistribute the building’s mass, giving the best results in terms of structural dispersion, frequency oscillation and wind requirements,” according to the description by Melbourne-based architectural firm Elenberg Fraser. “For those more on the art than science side . . . we’re going to trust you’ve seen the music video for Beyoncé’s ‘Ghost.’”
The property will be located on the west end of Melbourne’s central business district. No completion date has yet been announced, but in addition to the apartments, the tower will house a 160-room hotel.
