Acclaimed British steakhouse Hawksmoor will open its first US restaurant at Park Avenue South and East 22nd Street, the company said on Tuesday.
The Midtown opening confirms a report in The Post on Monday that Hawksmoor was backing out of a deal at Three World Trade Center’s Westfield mall.
The 180-seat eatery at 287 Park Ave. South will open in 2019.
Hawksmoor co-founder Huw Gott called the location at the 130-year old former United Charities Building “the ideal Hawksmoor restaurant space in New York,” with “an incredible 30-foot ceilinged assembly hall that will be the main room of our restaurant.”
The London-based Hawksmoor chain announced in 2016 that it would launch a 14,000-square-foot outpost in the Westfield mall — but on Monday The Post reported the plan was scratched and it was looking uptown instead.
Hawksmoor’s pullout at Three World Trade followed a similar change of heart by New York’s Make It Nice Group, headed by Will Guidara and chef Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park fame. They had earlier planned to launch a 7,000-square-foot casual eatery in the Westfield space, which appears to be behind schedule.
